Resolving permissions problems
Introduction
This documentation relates to the resolution of permissions problems on the folder
C:\ProgramData\ScanToPDF_5
which is where ScanToPDF saves all its settings.
In order to run ScanToPDF a user will need read\write\modify permissions on this folder and all of it's sub folders.
1. Open the folder in windows explorer
Start windows File Explorer and navigate to the folder C:\ProgramData
This folder is hidden by default so you will need to show hidden files or type the folder name directly into the address bar of the file explorer.
2. Select the folder to change its permissions
In windows file explorer, locate the folder ScanToPDF_5 and right click the mouse and choose Properties which will open a new window called ScanToPDF_5 Properties
Click the Security tab
3. Click Advanced button to access the required settings
On the Security tab click the Advanced button to open a new window called
Advanced Security Settings for ScanToPDF_5 (shown in the image to the right)
In the Permission entries box, click the Everyone principal and click Edit (below the permission entries box)
A new window will open enabling the permissions to be modified.
Set the permissions for Everyone to Full Control and click OK
Make sure the
Replace all child object permission entries with inheritable permission entries from this object
is
CHECKED (highlighted in Yellow in the image to the right)
Click the OK button. This will apply the necessary permissions on the folder and update the permissions on all the existing files.
